The ongoing challenges of coronavirus, and a rapidly changing world, mean our collective health and wellbeing has never been more important, and young people have been hardest hit. Future Healthy will be a beacon of hope for young people across the state, giving them the power and agency to envision a future that supports their health and wellbeing.
Why we need to listen
Listening to the lived experiences of Victorians is at the heart of Future Healthy. It’s vital that we’re listening to – and working with – people who come up against more barriers to good health. Those of us on a low income, or who are living with a disability. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or members of the LGBTIQ+ communities. People from culturally diverse backgrounds, those living in regional and rural areas or regions devastated by bushfires.
Young people want to feel heard and be seen. They want to be part of the solutions of the future. And we want that too. Collecting stories and experiences will help elevate the voices of young people and their parents and will help shape community-led solutions. Insights collected will inform Future Healthy investments over the next 3 years. By listening and understanding community experiences and needs, we can work together to develop solutions for all young people, particularly those facing greater barriers to health and wellbeing.
Above and beyond the dollars being spent and the time invested making change, Future Healthy is a collaboration. A conversation. And a community of young Victorians and parents telling us exactly what needs to be done to make happier, healthier living a reality for all.
Who we want to hear from
We want to collect stories from young people 18-25 right across the state about their experiences, challenges and ideas. We’re also keen to hear from parents and carers of kids who would like to share their family’s story.
Parents and young Victorians can get involved by completing a short 5-minute survey or by sharing their story in writing or by video, audio or image file.
How you can help
Future Healthy is spearheaded by VicHealth but is only possible through the incredible collaboration and contribution of our partners, communities and young Victorians.
We would love your help to gather the stories, ideas and diverse perspectives in your community. Help us ensure your community voices are heard so that Future Healthy can truly meet the needs of diverse young people.
Young people 18-25 and parents and carers of children can get involved online by sharing their story by writing it, recording a video or uploading any other file format and/or completing a short survey.
