Partners with the community to build change

Victoria’s young people have spoken. And we’ve listened. Now it’s time for action. We are thrilled to announce that we’re backing 123 organisations to JumpStart! their initiatives, all across the state, from a share of $3.75M.

JumpStart! – the second major investment in VicHealth’s Future Healthy initiative - is all about building vibrant communities through food, art and play.

Together, JumpStart! will create hundreds of community-led initiatives for Victoria’s children and young people (aged 0-25, including families).

That's 123 communities overflowing with brand new opportunities and programs centred on food, art and play. We’re talking about programs that will tackle racism through safe and inclusive sport. Cooking classes designed to connect young people with their cultural heritage. And toy libraries to provide families with access to educational resources for their little ones.

All of this and MUCH more, to support the health and wellbeing of Victoria’s young people.

Yeah, we’re pretty excited about it.

We’re reaching far and wide across Victoria. There’s something here for everyone. The programs may be different, but they all share the same goal. It’s all about supporting young people to reach their full health potential.

Well go on then, let’s meet these organisations!

Tell me more!

JumpStart! Is the second major investment in VicHealth’s Future Healthy initiative. It’s all about building vibrant communities through food, art and play.

Together, JumpStart! will create hundreds of community-led initiatives for Victoria’s children and young people (aged 0-25, including families).

But what does it look like? We asked organisations to tell us how they can support young people to:

  • learn about their own food culture and identity and share this with others

  • get physically active in welcoming and inclusive places

  • connect through arts, cultural and play-based activities.

And what do they get? A whole heap of support, because we’re in this together. We’re backing their ideas through building their skills. We’ll connect them with like-minded leaders, share insights across communities and be sure they have the resources to make their project the best it can possibly be.

But guess what? This is just the beginning. We’re opening a SECOND round of JumpStart! funding on August 23! That means more community-led initiatives, and more support for Victoria’s young people.
